World Radio Day Award
The U.S. World Radio Day Award seeks to raise awareness of World Radio Day by honoring a U.S. radio station that exemplifies the best attributes of this industry. Recipients may be large or small stations, commercial or noncommercial, located in any market and broadcasting in any language.
The jury looks for stations that demonstrate any or all of American radio's best attributes including localism, audience reach, community service, effective use of new digital platforms, diversity in program content and staffing, and financial and ratings success.
The WRD Award was initially created by the Spanish Radio Academy to promote the celebration of the World Radio Day that was requested by the Kingdom of Spain to the United Nations in 2011.
